ISPE – Institute for Studies and Power Engineering – is the consultant of the EBRD Project for Moldova and Romania Power Systems Interconnection

ISPE, national leader in the field of power consulting and engineering has signed Monday, the 14th of December, 2015, in Chisinau the consulting contract for Moldova-Romania Power Interconnection Feasibility Study.

In the current geopolitical context, the asynchronous interconnection of Moldova and Romania power systems represents a very important step towards the single European electricity market. This will allow the participation of our neighbours across the Prut river to the European electricity market.

The overall objective of the contract is the development of the technical, economic, commercial, social and environmental feasibility studies and of the documentations necessary for Moldova Government for the approval of the following investments: “Back to back“ station Vulcanesti and OHL 330kV Vulcanesti- Chisinau; “Back to back” station and OHL 330/400kv Romania-Ungheni-Straseni; “Back to back” station and OHL 400kV Balti – Suceava. ISPE will also develop the grid system study.

The consulting contract is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) through a grant of about 1 million EUR.

The beneficiary of the study is state-owned company “Moldelectrica” and the consortium which has been awarded the bid includes: ISPE, Romania – leader; Institute of Research, Design and Technology ”Energoproiect” Moldova and IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute – partners.Mrs. Ph.D. dipl.eng. Anca Popescu as project manager will led the project.

The contract signing has been attended from Moldova part by Mr. Valeriu Triboi, deputy minister of Economy, Mr. A Alexandru S?ndulescu, adviser to the Prime Minister on Energy Policies. The contract has been signed by Mr. Ghennadi Dimov, General Director of MOLELECTRICA, Mr. Octavian Costas, on behalf of EBRD and Mr. Ion Eduard Chi?escu, ISPE Chief Executive Officer.

Through this collaboration, Romania is again close to Moldova and provides its expert skills, contributing to the strengthening of the trade and economic relations in the energy field.
