Turceni Open Door - an event of great interest for the local and central media

Turceni Open Door event, part of the European Sustainable Energy Week organized on Thursday, 14th April 2011 by TURCENI Energy Complex was of great interest not only for the institutional representatives who attended but also for the central and local media. 

The main event’s purpose was the establishment of a communication pattern between the experts and the audience interested in the knowledge shared regarding:

Welcome remarks were addressed by Octavian Laurenţiu Graure, Turceni Energy Complex General Director as the event’s host, pointing out the GETICA CCS Demo Project implementation main advantage: “the GHG exhausted in the atmosphere by the Power Plant Unit no. 6 will be captured mittigating pollution so that the Energy Complex won’t have to buy green certificates.”
 

Ion Ruşet, senator, Romanian Parliament; Marian Proorocu, state subsecretary and National Agency for Environmental Protection vice-president; Ion Călinoiu, Gorj County Council president and Ion Iordache, Mayor, Turceni City Hall pointed out through their speeches the central and local administration positive attitude towards the future GETICA CCS project implementation.
 

The dialog initiated by Turceni Energy Complex had over 100 participants from the Romanian Parliament, METBE* and MEF**, national, regional and local Environment Protection Agencies, General Inspectorate for Emergy Situations – Gorj county, National Environmental Station, business environment and industries, R&D institues and universities, future GETICA CCS Project Company shareholders (Turceni Energy Complex, Transgaz, Romgaz) and the Technical Consortium. A large number of central and local media representatives accepted our invitation.
 

The event was structured in three working sessions. The first session entitled „Climate change – worldwide, at European and national level” had Cristiana Ion, minister’s personal counsellor, METBE and Marian Motocu, Energy Division director, Turceni Energy Complex as chairpersons. The next two sessions „National and international cooperations / financial issues„ and „GETICA CCS project development stage presentation” had as chairpersons Constantin Sava, Department Director, GeoEcoMar and member of the ZEP Govermental Group and Gabriel Ignat, Project manager, Project Management Department, ISPE.

The event ended with a technical visit in the Turceni Power Plant at which were invited all participants interested in the upgraded and retrofitting programs developped in the Power Plant and the innovative and clean technologies to be implemented.
