ISPE supports National Programme for Carbon Capture and Storage
ISPE and Politehnica University hosted the fifth edition of the International Energy and Environment Conference – CIEM 2011, one of the most prestigious scientific and academic events in the region. The conference was held in Bucharest, between November 3rd-4th.
An important element on the conference agenda was the „Carbon Capture and Storage” international round table organized by ISPE and GeoEcoMar, under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment – METBE. The event emphasized the importance of implementing the CCS technology in the European Union and integrating it in the National Power Strategy, as recommended in the EU Roadmap 2050.
The hosts of the event were George Darie, dean of the Energy Faculty - Politehnica University, and Cristiana Ion, counsellor of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Environment. In the opening, Derek Taylor, Director of BEST Programme - Bellona Foundation (Norway) delivered an interesting presentation on the „European CCS Roadmap”, presenting the analysis made by Bellona for Poland and Hungary.
