ISPE Brings Back into the Spotlight the European Emissions Trading Schemes
The international conference regarding “Financial Instruments for the Benefit of Energy Sector”, held by the Institute for Studies and Power Engineering – ISPE and CONSUS Romania, with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment took place on Tuesday, 23rd of February 2010, at ISPE headquarters in Bucharest.This event aimed in developing a working platform in order to identify and explain the financial instruments that can be accessed to sustain the power and heat generation sector.
Among the personalities who were present at this conference, we underline the presence of Mr. Tudor Serban, State Secretary responsible for energy issues, Ministry of Economy Trade and Business Environment, Mr. Iulian Iancu – President - World Energy Council Romania, Mr. Ioan-Dan Gheorghiu - President and General Director - ISPE and also President of the Romanian Power Industry Employers Federation, Mrs. Florentina Manea, SCDD Director, Ministry of Environment, Mrs. Hortensia Dumitriu, Director at the National Agency for Environmental Protection – Climate Change and Atmosphere Protection Department, together with the guests of honour on behalf of CONSUS Group:
Mr. Jaroslaw Klapucki, President of the Group and expert in financial transactions, Mr. Pawel Jankowski Carbon Trading Specialist and Mr. Juliusz Preś.
The main topics of the two sessions of the conference, chaired by Mrs. Carmencita Constantin, Director Energy and Environment Division, ISPE and Mrs. Lavinia Stoica General Director CONSUS Romania respective “CO2 Market. Weather Derivatives and Present Romanian situation regarding European Emission Trading Scheme” were the following:
- Green investments scheme – the opportunity of financing the investments within the national economy
- CO2 trading market – opportunities and evolution forecast for 2010 -2012
- Quanto – an advanced instrument for managing the weather and EU ETS risk management
- EU-ETS Scheme – Present and Future
- The impact of the legislative framework energy –climate changes upon the energy sector
- EU-ETS approach within the new structure of power generation sector in Romania
This event was a real success, gathering representatives of the government, decision-making persons and specialists in the technical and economy –financial sectors within the public and private units from the power and heat generation sector, assurance companies and also banks.
