Corporate social responsability
"Preparing for the future means strengthening the foundations of the present only".
Antoine de Saint Exupéry
We all have the task, either as individuals or organizations, to secure sustainability that we regard as a must of our time.
Sustainable development is not possible without the contribution of each person separately, in which case emphasis is laid on the degree of social responsibility of each person.
Companies can make a real difference when it comes to attaining the relevant sustainable development aims.
As part of public life and defined as legal "persons", the companies have duties towards society, and many possibilities to fulfil them.
Corporate social responsibility means to ISPE this very attitude of a company towards society that enables one to achieve success by respecting the laws, by assuming an ethical behaviour, by an adequate approach to social and environmental issues, by considering the needs and interests of all the partners.
The World Business Council for Sustainable Development focuses on the "continuously assumed" commitment of companies to taking on an ethical behaviour and contributing to the economic development, due to a higher quality of life.
All companies regard corporate social responsibility as a means of adding value, while focusing on social and environmental issues. However, corporate social responsibility means more than a way to justify a company in the social environment where it operates and adding value to the firm; the results of a well defined corporate social responsibility strategy has a beneficial influence both upon the present and the future.
