Energy efficiency bankable projects

Short description:

The project is carried on within the European program ‘SAVE’ financed by the European Communittee. The project has in view the bankable development on large scale of investment projects in the field of energy efficiency in Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Bulgaria.
The project has been supported by EBRD taking into account EBRD policy of financing European power efficiency projects.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) through its team of experts in the field of power efficiency is acting as an important source of information. EBRD has contributed to the good performance of the project by training measures and permanent assistance.
The project examined the financial status and the specific frame conditions in Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Bulgaria. The project was based on know-how transfer for identifying financial ad business plans and for developping a model of investment projects up to the the phase of financing assured by EBRD or other fnancial institutions.
The aim of the project is the achievement of a guide meant to evaluate energy efficiency projects feasibility and to promote them for financing. The Guide of Bankable Proposals for Power Efficiency has been customized for each country: Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Bulgaria considering the specific national requirements. The Guide includes information necessary for financial institutions as to estimate the possibilities to finance the investment projects in the field power efficiency as well as the methodology of promoting these projects.
Project benefits includes the attraction of private capital for turning to account the large existing potential of energy savings in all sectors.
Each of the participant countries Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Bulgaria presented a pilot project within a portfolio of 3-5 projects. The project “Development, rehabilitation and operation of CHPP Timisoara Centru and CHPP Timisoara South” was selected by the Consortium as the most feasible project.
